After telling someone I major in physics I am almost always asked if I want to become a high school teacher.  Most people are able to see how biology and chemistry are able to improve their lives through medicine, but do not think of how science can apply to their daily life.  (Science isn’t about practical applications as much as expanding our knowledge of the universe.)   While I commonly get practical use from my degree in my personal life (and everyone gets practical use out of physics), one of the most basic and important things I have learned applies to everyone: the scientific method.  Ask a question.  Formulate a Hypothesis. Conduct an Experiment.  Analyze Results.  Accept your hypothesis or form a new one and repeat the process.  In real life, there are questions I have that I am personally unable to create experiments to.  What then?  With the internet I…
